French at GCSE Level

Pupils will develop the ability to use the French language as a means of communication and will gain an insight into the culture and civilisation of the countries where French is spoken.

Assessment:

Pupils will follow the WJEC GCSE course and will be assessed in 4 skill areas:

• Speaking
• Listening
• Reading
• Writing

Each skill has a weighting of 25% of the overall grade, with the writing skill forming the coursework. Candidates will be required to sit all 4 parts of the exam at either Foundation or Higher level to achieve a GCSE grade.
