Geography at GCSE Level

The aim of the course is to develop an understanding of places and an awareness of the relationship between physical activities (the forces of nature) and human activities and their effect on the environment.

Assessment:                   75% Examination

                                      25% Coursework

The Coursework is a UK based enquiry undertaken by the students with guidance from staff.  This begins in the summer term of Year 10.

The Department will support success throughout the course, specifically by:

  • Setting regular homework in the form of past question papers to give pupils as much practise as possible at GCSE questions.
  • Fieldwork visits to get a practical experiences of the issues studied.
  • Workshops designed to support and guide pupils on an individual basis with the completion of their coursework.
