Mr C Gardner, Acting Head of Technology

Graphics at GCSE Level

This area of DT allows pupils with good modelling and artistic skills to do well.  Projects are undertaken to study a range of presentation techniques.

  • In Year 11 pupils choose to produce a project for their coursework which accounts for 60% of their GCSE grade.

  • There is a 30 minutes common paper and a 1½ hour specialist paper in Graphics which completes their GCSE course.

Pupils are encouraged to use their own interested as a source of inspiration for their coursework as this gives a greater sense of ownership.  Pupils should be prepared to purchase any specialist items that are required for their projects which are not readily available in school.  All DT pupils need to have their own basic writing and drawing equipment and it is Departmental policy to make maximum use of computer technology wherever appropriate in the course.
