Beliefs & Values at GCSE Core
(WJEC GCSE Short Course RS Specification B/Option A: Religion and Life issues).
B&V is a very important part of the core curriculum as it is in the subject area that pupils receive their Religious Education and aspects of their Personal Social Education and Citizenship provision.
Beliefs & Values prepares pupils for every day life and post-16 choices by enabling them to increase their self-awareness, decision-making and personal responsibility, through exploration of topical and ethical issues.
Pupils will take a Short Course in GCSE Religious Studies, which will enable them to engage with these issues and receive a qualification. Topics include:

Religious Studies at GCSE Level
AQA Religious Studies B.
Have you wondered why we are here, what is your purpose for being here? Philosophy is the study of the meaning of life. It considers how life should be lived and why we are here.
Philosophies studied:
? Christianity (those who follow the teachings of Jesus Christ)
? Islam (the religion of Muslims)
? Your beliefs about life
Ethics is the study of right and wrong, how we make decisions in life and what
influences our decisions. Examples of topics studied:
• Abortion
• Sex, Love & Marriage
• Prejudice
• Justice
• Sexism
• Racism
• War and Peace
• The Environment
Assessment is by 2 exams, one at the end of Year 10 and one at the end of Year 11; no coursework.
